Robbinsdale Metal Roof Installation

Some property owners ask us, “Why should I get a metal roof?” One of the main benefits is metal roofs have a significantly longer lifespan than other roof types like asphalt shingles. Asphalt roofs last 17-23 years in our Minnesota climate, while metal roofs last around 40-60 years. Metal roofs can last even longer than 40-60 years in some cases, particularly if they’re installed by a skilled Robbinsdale metal roofing company like AM Burney Exteriors.

We think metal roofs are a good choice because a metal roof should last for a property owner’s natural lifespan, making them a worthy investment. Worthy because metal roofs end the re-roofing cycle of installing asphalt every 20 years or so (more if a storm) – and a metal roof has numerous other advantages as documented below. If warranties are a high priority, there are also generous non-prorated manufacturer warranties on the metal roofs.

A standing seam roof has long, vertical metal panels. These are the metal roofs that have the ribs and come in either flat panels or striated panels. They are manufactured in a wide variety of colors. Even if property owners want a highly specific color like “Coke can red,” they’re most likely to find it with a standing seam metal roof. In fact, we’ve fulfilled this exact request for a client before.

Another advantage of standing seam roofs is how durable they are. The metal for these roofs comes in a variety of thickness. The higher the gauge the thinner the metal. A thinner metal – around 28-gauge we would install on a barn or shed. Often for residential metal standing seam roofs we use a 24-gauge steel. It is strong enough to hold up to hail and wind storms, and it saves a little on the pocket book. Keep in mind the lower the steel gauge, the thicker it is, and it usually costs more per lineal foot.

Stone-coated steel roofs are among the most popular types of metal roofs because they have a classic look. Property owners won’t have to decide between the timeless aesthetic of asphalt and the practical benefits of metal roofs — the stone-coated roof offers five profiles that have the look of stones similar to the stone look of the stones in asphalt shingles. Our clients enjoy their stone-coated steel roofing because it is an ‘eye catcher’ with the rich warm colors and classic styles. It makes their home stand out a bit from other houses in the neighborhood.

The stone-coated metal roof panel that we install is made here in the USA. This unique type of metal roof uses individual 26-gauge steel panels that have a galvalume coating that prevents the steel panel from rusting. The panels are available embossed in five different profiles. The panels are then coated with stone granules in a polymer acrylic bonding agent that is bonded by heat. And they are made in many beautiful, natural looking blended and solid colors. It is one tough steel roof with a traditional, handsome look.

At AM Burney Exteriors, we provide a manufacturer’s warranty with each of the stone-coated steel roofing options we install. Rest easy and enjoy the benefits of a low-maintenance, wind and hail resistant metal roof. A metal roof that is both practical, extremely long-lasting and visually appealing.

As a trusted Robinsdale metal roof installation company AM Burney Exteriors is the area’s ‘go-to’ metal roof installer when considering an interlocking metal roofing panel. This metal roof, like all metal roof installations, requires experience, knowledge, and craftsmanship to ensure that it has been properly installed. Since 2009, AM Burney Exteriors has been the number one metal roofing installer in the Twin Cities Metro area.

Property owners seeking a unique option for their roof should consider the benefits and looks of this type of roofing. Interlocking metal roofing panels are available in two embossed profiles – shake or slate. For homeowners who desire a sleek, stylish, and long-lasting roofing solution, this locally made metal shingle is worth considering.

Interlocking metal roofing panels have an embossed design that not only gives it a great look but adds to the strength of the metal panel. A metal roof panel that will hold up to strong winds, hail storms and harsh weather conditions. The reason. It is installed with a four-way clip system. This installation system has been tested to and withstood 160 MPH winds. In addition to its durability, interlocking metal roofing is available in a wide variety of solid colors and rich blended colors – with or without shadow lines. They’re protected by an advanced paint system known as Kynar 500 and Valspar for excellent durability and color that holds up to the elements. This metal roof is a great choice when looking for an elevated and unique appearance, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the property.

And like our other metal roof style and types, property owners can expect embossed interlocking metal roofs to look amazing and stand the test of time.

Robbinsdale Metal Roof Replacement

At AM Burney Exteriors, we offer Robbinsdale metal roof replacement among our other roofing services. We started our company installing asphalt roofs and still do offer that service. We can offer a comparison of metal roofing and asphalt roof if that is what our homeowner wishes. Which is nice, because as a ‘one-stop shop’ , we can offer a variety of options.

When considering repair of a metal roof. Repairs may seem cheaper over the short term, but they can lead to many long-term expenses if the roof is past its lifespan or damaged beyond repair. If we determine after a thorough inspection a roof needs to be replaced, we can provide a brand-new metal roof of our homeowner’s choice.

Robbinsdale Metal Roof Storm Damage & Metal Roof Inspections

One of the most frequently asked questions we get as a local metal roofing contractor is, “how often should I inspect my roof?” We recommend that our homeowners walk around their property at the start of each new season. And also, after a hail storm, or a bad storm. Look at the roof, siding, windows fascia and trim. Do any of these areas appear to have gotten damaged? Are they worn and in need of repair or replacement? Doing so can:

  • Prolonged life of the roof or siding but just noting the condition of the product
  • Resolving minor issues before they become detrimental
  • Routine maintenance to preserve the condition of the metal or asphalt roof

Metal Roof FAQs

Is a metal roof noisy?

This is probably the #1 question we as metal roof installers get.  Perhaps you remember standing under a barn, shed or outbuiliding during a rainstorm. In these structures, the steel roof panels are secured directly to the rafters.  There is no sound barrier so it sounded loud when it rained. On a home, townhome or heated commercial facility, the steel panels are fastened to an underlayment, then decking, with insulation under that and a sheet rock ceiling which absorbs and muffles sound.

In addition, and this too helps muffle sound, some metal roofs can be installed over an asphalt roof.  Considering the layer of shingles, roof deck, attic air space, rafters, the insulation, and sheetrock ceiling, individuals who have metal roof say what they hear when it rains is the rain on their skylights and soft metals (gutters), not their metal roof.

Can I walk on my metal roof?

Yes, but like with any roof care should always be taken.

How much does a metal roof cost compared to asphalt roofs?

Initially a metal roof may cost more depending on the type of asphalt shingle you compare it to.  A steel roof will never need to be replaced in your lifetime, lasting 40-80 years (depending on metal type) when compared to asphalt roofs which last about 17-20 years in our climate. If you have hail, wind or storm damage asphalt shingles are more likely to damage when compared to a metal roof. Therefore over a life-time,  a metal roof is less expensive.
