Metal Roof Installation By Local Metal Roofing Contractors

When residents are looking for a metal roof installation company in Centerville, they should be wary of “storm chasers.” Storm chasers are companies that travel from place-to-place selling roofs after a large storm hits. The company will install the new roofs quickly and sometimes carelessly, lacking attention to detail. And then move on to the next storm-hit area. At AM Burney Exteriors, we never engage in storm chasing. We’re a local metal roofing contractor that prides itself on years of expertise and quality work. Standing seam metal roofs are made of vertical panels that are fastened to the roof deck. One reason property owners choose a standing seam metal roof is for aesthetic purposes. They have a clean and sleek look that many cabin owners favor as well as homeowners looking for a custom sleek look. In addition, the color options for standing seam roofs are varied with solid or blended colors. Whether a client wants a bright, bold red color, gray or the perfect matte black, they may find what they’re looking for with our standing seam roofs.

Our standing seam metal roofs are also extremely durable. The most common standing seam roof we install is made of 24 gauge steel and protected by advanced paint systems like Kynar 500 or Valspar. These roofs can withstand strong winds and heavy hailstorms. In addition, metal roofs offer significant advantages over asphalt shingles when it comes to heat retention. Unlike asphalt shingles, metal roofs do not absorb and hold heat for prolonged periods. Instead, the heat absorbed by a metal roof dissipates rapidly as temperatures cool, effectively lowering the interior attic temperatures more efficiently than an asphalt roof.

This characteristic of metal roofs brings numerous benefits to homeowners. Firstly, it reduces the need for excessive electricity consumption to power air conditioning systems, resulting in lower electricity bills. Additionally, it creates a more comfortable living environment throughout the home. Our homeowners greatly appreciate this long-term cost-saving advantage.

Moreover, standing seam roofs, a type of metal roofing, offer the following advantages:

  • Resistant to high winds, heavy rains, storms, hail, and snow
  • Snow easily slides off this metal roof system helping with prevention of ice dams
  • Class A fire resistant
  • Class 4 hail impact resistant
  • Custom installs to fit any roof design and pitch
  • Lightweight
  • Dirt and stain resistant for long-lasting curb appeal
  • Available in many solid and blended colors
  • 50-year transferable warranties

Metal Roof FAQs

Is a metal roof noisy?

This is probably the #1 question we as metal roof installers get.  Perhaps you remember standing under a barn, shed or outbuiliding during a rainstorm. In these structures, the steel roof panels are secured directly to the rafters.  There is no sound barrier so it sounded loud when it rained. On a home, townhome or heated commercial facility, the steel panels are fastened to an underlayment, then decking, with insulation under that and a sheet rock ceiling which absorbs and muffles sound.

In addition, and this too helps muffle sound, some metal roofs can be installed over an asphalt roof.  Considering the layer of shingles, roof deck, attic air space, rafters, the insulation, and sheetrock ceiling, individuals who have metal roof say what they hear when it rains is the rain on their skylights and soft metals (gutters), not their metal roof.

Can I walk on my metal roof?

Yes, but like with any roof care should always be taken.

How much does a metal roof cost compared to asphalt roofs?

Initially a metal roof may cost more depending on the type of asphalt shingle you compare it to.  A steel roof will never need to be replaced in your lifetime, lasting 40-80 years (depending on metal type) when compared to asphalt roofs which last about 17-20 years in our climate. If you have hail, wind or storm damage asphalt shingles are more likely to damage when compared to a metal roof. Therefore over a life-time,  a metal roof is less expensive.
