Burnsville Steel Roof Installation

Burnsville Steel Roof Installation

If looking to upgrade a roof, metal roofing is a fantastic option. Metal roofs are extremely durable and are low to no maintenance. Whether it be extreme wind, hail, blistering summer temperatures or blustering winter temperatures, a metal roof can withstand whatever the weather in Burnsville throws at it.

With a durable steel roof, a replacement won’t be necessary for many, many years. Because metal roofs are made from steel they are tough. With new technologies the coatings on the metals have long-lasting beauty and maintain their aesthetic over the years. A metal roof has a fantastic return on investment and will increase the value of the house.

In addition to being very durable, metal roofs are an environmentally conscious addition to any home. Metal roofs reflect heat which helps to save on summer cooling energy bills. Installing a metal roof is also an excellent choice when considering mounting solar panels. After a long, long life of protecting a home, metal roofs can be 100% recycled making it a green roof choice.

Benefits of Burnsville Steel Roof Installation

Installing a metal roof has a lot of tangible benefits, like improving a home’s cooling capacity, but there are other great benefits as well. Check out the list below to see some more of the pros of installing a metal roof in Burnsville:

  • Unmatched manufacturer warranties that may be transferred
  • Cool-roof technology that reflects sunlight and absorbs less heat than traditional roofing materials
  • UL Class 4 hail impact rating
  • Defies winds up to 120-160 MPH
  • Class A fire rating
  • 100% recyclable
  • No warping, splitting, peeling, or cracking
  • Lower rates on Homeowners Insurance
  • Withstands frigid Minnesota winters and blistering summers
  • Adds resale value
  • Curb appeal

What many think of as the traditional metal roof, standing seam roofs are a timeless architectural beauty. Vertical seams create clean lines, from the peak of the roof to the gutter edge. The standing seam metal roof easily sheds off snow and rain, making it a perfect roofing option for places like Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Modern paint technology helps make the steel panels corrosion resistant, and if installed properly rust will not be an issue and the steel roof will last a long time. Different gauges in steel (which means different strength and weights) allow for a choice in the protection a client may desire. The lower the number of gauge, the stronger the steel. We have found that a 24 gauge standing seam is generally sufficient for most applications. But there are others available and can be adapted over a variety of buildings, whether that be a barn or a residential house.

Metal Roof Installation

Metal Roof FAQs

Is a metal roof noisy?

This is probably the #1 question we as metal roof installers get.  Perhaps you remember standing under a barn, shed or outbuiliding during a rainstorm. In these structures, the steel roof panels are secured directly to the rafters.  There is no sound barrier so it sounded loud when it rained. On a home, townhome or heated commercial facility, the steel panels are fastened to an underlayment, then decking, with insulation under that and a sheet rock ceiling which absorbs and muffles sound.

In addition, and this too helps muffle sound, some metal roofs can be installed over an asphalt roof.  Considering the layer of shingles, roof deck, attic air space, rafters, the insulation, and sheetrock ceiling, individuals who have metal roof say what they hear when it rains is the rain on their skylights and soft metals (gutters), not their metal roof.

Can I walk on my metal roof?

Yes, but like with any roof care should always be taken.

How much does a metal roof cost compared to asphalt roofs?

Initially a metal roof may cost more depending on the type of asphalt shingle you compare it to.  A steel roof will never need to be replaced in your lifetime, lasting 40-80 years (depending on metal type) when compared to asphalt roofs which last about 17-20 years in our climate. If you have hail, wind or storm damage asphalt shingles are more likely to damage when compared to a metal roof. Therefore over a life-time,  a metal roof is less expensive.
