Metal Roof Company in Bayport, Minnesota

AM Burney Exteriors is the  metal roofing company for property owners who want a thorough roof inspection and a quality, state-of the-art custom metal roof installation. With expertise in exterior remodeling, we have zeroed in on installing metal roofs. There are three types of metal roofs that we install. They are such stone-coated steel, embossed interlocking steel panels, and standing seam roofs. Each has their own look and are installed differently, but all are steel tough and last some say, a lifetime.

Our custom metal roofs harmonize and enhance architectural intricacies and aesthetics of residential homes, commercial buildings, barns, and churches. Looking for a striking roof that catches attention or prefers a seamless integration with neighboring structures, AM Burney Exteriors has delivered beautiful, long lasting metal roof installations throughout the Twin Cities metro area since 2009. Contact us today as we stand ready to help with inquiries and questions about metal roofs.

Bayport Metal Roof Installation

Asphalt roofs are the most popular roof type, so a question we often get is, “Why should I install a metal roof?” We specialize in metal roofs primarily because of their longevity. On average, metal roofs last between 40-60 years. Some metal roofs can survive for over a century, depending on the properties of the metal roof and how well it was installed. Asphalt roofs, meanwhile, last between 17-23 years which means if the home was built today, in 60+ years more than likely that asphalt roof is going to need replacing at least two more times – possibly more if there has been storm damage. Or one metal roof could be installed by AM Burney Exteriors.

And guess what, the price of that asphalt roof increases each time it is put on due to the material it is made of – petroleum based and the cost of labor.

Many property owners with a metal roof installed won’t need to replace it in their lifetime, while asphalt roofs may need to be replaced a few times. Think of the money that could be saved with the installment of one metal roof. Why we say ‘one metal roof, one life , one time.’

These benefits are shared among the three types of roofs we offer: standing seam, stone-coated steel, and embossed interlocking. If unsure what these metal roof products offer or have trouble deciding between them, read on for more details.

A standing seam roof is constructed from long, vertical 24 gauge steel panels that are fastened together on the roof deck. Note: we have other gauges available depending on the application.  The end result of this steel panel and fastening system is a roof that can stand up to the toughest wind, hail, snow and sleet storms.

As a local Minnesota-based metal roof contractor in Bayport, Minnesota, we fabricate our own standing seam panels to achieve a customized fit for every roof we install. This process also  eliminates the need for shipping, resulting in cost savings that we pass on to our clients, and it also increases our efficiency. In case of any unforeseen damage or missing panels (which can sometimes occur when relying on prefabricated panels from out of state), our approach allows us to make replacement panels and have them on the jobsite without causing delays or interruptions during installation. This advantage saves both time delays and money.

In addition to their numerous benefits listed below, standing seam metal roofs offer unparalleled color options and a look of their own. Our expertise extends to installing standing seam roofs in a wide array of colors, ranging from vibrant reds to sleek, stylish black metal roofs. This versatility provides property owners with a plethora of possibilities, allowing them to choose a color that perfectly complements their unique aesthetic preferences and the home’s architecture.

Now a list of the numerous benefits, features and advantages of a standing seam roof.

When property owners in Bayport face the dilemma of choosing between the durability of a metal roof and the timeless allure of asphalt, the ideal solution lies in opting for a stone-coated steel roof. Our selection includes cottage shingles that look like the traditional asphalt appearance. So much so that some ‘can not believe it is a metal roof!’ Other profiles include  slate, cedar-shake, pacific tile, and barrel vault shingles. The wide range of options that stone-coated steel roofs provide make it a great choice for property owners seeking a customized aesthetic that seamlessly blends the durability of steel  with the classic charm.

Meticulously crafted in the U.S.A, our stone-coated steel roofs are engineered to showcase unparalleled strength and durability. They withstand the most severe weather conditions, including hail, wind, ice, and snow. Beyond their exceptional resilience, these roofs bring a timeless and elegant allure to Bayport properties, imparting them with a classic aesthetic that transcends passing trends.

Furthermore, the energy efficiency benefits offered by this roofing style add an extra layer of value. The built in, patented above sheathing ventilation system helps air to flow freely across the roof plane which helps keep the attic cavity cool. A cooler attic cavity results in lower utility bills as the air conditioner runs less. And too, the overall comfort of the home. Cost savings and long-term sustainability.

What are additional benefits of stone-coated steel roofs?  Here they are:

  • 50 YEAR transferable warranty
  • Patented above sheathing ventilation system that helps cool the roof

The highly engineered and tested fastening system of these interlocking metal roof panels, holds up to winds that can reach up to 160 mph. Made from 26 gauge steel, these roofs are renowned for their captivating highlights and shadow lines, creating a mesmerizing 3D effect that enhances the visual appeal of any building.

Metal Roof FAQs

Is a metal roof noisy?

This is probably the #1 question we as metal roof installers get.  Perhaps you remember standing under a barn, shed or outbuiliding during a rainstorm. In these structures, the steel roof panels are secured directly to the rafters.  There is no sound barrier so it sounded loud when it rained. On a home, townhome or heated commercial facility, the steel panels are fastened to an underlayment, then decking, with insulation under that and a sheet rock ceiling which absorbs and muffles sound.

In addition, and this too helps muffle sound, some metal roofs can be installed over an asphalt roof.  Considering the layer of shingles, roof deck, attic air space, rafters, the insulation, and sheetrock ceiling, individuals who have metal roof say what they hear when it rains is the rain on their skylights and soft metals (gutters), not their metal roof.

Can I walk on my metal roof?

Yes, but like with any roof care should always be taken.

How much does a metal roof cost compared to asphalt roofs?

Initially a metal roof may cost more depending on the type of asphalt shingle you compare it to.  A steel roof will never need to be replaced in your lifetime, lasting 40-80 years (depending on metal type) when compared to asphalt roofs which last about 17-20 years in our climate. If you have hail, wind or storm damage asphalt shingles are more likely to damage when compared to a metal roof. Therefore over a life-time,  a metal roof is less expensive.
